About us

History

Achisomoch was formed back in 1978 - 30+ years ago - with just one operator maintaining paper records. It now has a full time manager, 3 part time support staff and extensive IT facilities.

2 of the 3 trustees and auditors have remained with Achisomoch since inception. There has been only one change of senior admin manager and 2 upgrades of computer system. Achisomoch takes advantage of all modern IT concepts for communication (email, fax) and accounting - including automated email statement, remittance notes, BACS clearing, secure remote access, advanced client reports, standing orders, treasury account management, Israel/shekel bank accounts etc

During this time Achisomoch has grown to over 700 clients, with a very low attrition rate and a turnover of around £7M per annum. It processes over 60,000 payments each year and makes donations to over 1500 charities. The average client donates over £1500 per annum to charity.

    2. To do this expeditiously, accurately and efficiently - with minimal costs. (ie less than 1% or revenue).

    3. To use IT/computer technology to its fullest in order to automate the admin and control systems and provide extra services to clients.

    4. To ensure that local charities benefit from any surplus (unrestricted) funds - 'profit'.

    5. To provide recipient charities with very fast processing of claims and with minimal deductions. To simplify and expedite payments to bona fide charities in Israel.

    6. To actively market the service in order to attract more clients and thus provide more money for charity.

    7. To act at all times within the framework of the law and especially the rules governing charitable donations and avoidance of money laundering.

    8. To do this actively and with exception reporting.

    9. To implement a program of ongoing checks to ensure the recipients are bona-fide and actively involved in charitable activities.
    10. To provide a superior client care/support/information program for people and organisations donating money through the services of Achisomoch.

  2. How do we achieve this.

    1. By donating funds via other charities/Voluntary bodies and to make grants to both individual and organisations.

    2. As a "Charity Voucher" service and by ensuring that full advantage is taken of government schemes (Gift Aid, Payroll Giving etc).

How does it work

Achisomoch is a Charity Voucher agency - it is like a bank. You open an account with us and then pay money into the account. You are given a cheque (voucher) book and can then make (charitable) payments by using these vouchers. As a charity in its own right, we can reclaim the tax rebate under Gift Aid to increase the money in your account and available for distribution to charities. Donations, via vouchers can be made only to registered charities. You get regular statements and can arrange to speak to client services for any help or special instructions.

Charges for the services are calculated as a small percentage of all payments into the account.

Why use a charity voucher organisation

If you are giving charity and are able to take advantage of the gift aid, it is far more efficient to make an agreement with just one charity.

It is easier to keep the paper work, since only one charity needs be entered on your tax form (Achisomoch provides regular statements).

If you run a charitable trust or company, you need make just one donation to Achisomoch which may be split into smaller donations with vouchers - but without having to keep extra records.

Payments to charities can be made at your own pace and at your own time. The Achisomoch bank allows you to 'smooth' the timing and amounts of your donations.

Payroll Giving to credit your account directly from your salary as a gross amount.
